Our Philosophy

We provide relevant and useful nutrition resources for all educational modalities

M&T Nutrition is a nutrition education hub meant to provide resources teachers, administrators and schools can use to enhance nutrition education efforts. All materials found on this page were developed by a team of Registered Dietitians, educators, and child development and family relationship specialists designed to help children develop a positive relationship with food, encourage a balance diet and promote long-lasting healthy nutrition behaviors.

Our Story

Our team has been developing, implementing and evaluating nutrition education programs for teachers and schools for over 10 years. Many of the resources found on this page were developed as part of 2 of our signature programs MENTOR and TEACH.

The MENTOR project was a program aimed at reducing the risk of overweight and obesity in elementary school children. The program included in-person trainings for in-service teachers and pre-service teachers, a mentorship plan for pre-service teachers and a website that included teacher resources, lesson plans, printables and even parent newsletters. The MENTOR program was based upon work that was supported by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, U.S. Department of Agriculture, under award number 2015-69001-23241.

The TEACH program was a teacher education program that aimed to improve the nutrition knowledge, teaching self-efficacy and nutrition teaching practices of preschool teachers. This unique national program included both asynchronous and synchronous online teacher education and interactive student lesson plans developed based on the Montessori learning modality.
